Eva Lorene (Capps) May, 91, departed from this life Jan. 19, 2004. She was born in Stahl, MO on July 26, 1912 to Frank and Edna Mae (Owings) Capps, graduated from Green City H.S. and was a lifelong resident of Kirksville, MO until she moved to Wichita, KS in 1997 to be near her son and his family. Mrs. May was married in 1945 to Lewis Edward May of Kirksville, who preceded her in death Sept. 1. 1959. Widowed at the age of 47 and a mother of two, Mrs. May entered the workforce with the Adair County Magistrate Court. She was a charter member of the local chapter of the Am. Bus. Women's Assn. and 1st United Methodist Church of Kirksville.
Survivors: children, Cheryl Gillispie of Georgetown, TX and Dr. David (Patsy) of Wichita; grandchildren, Ed Gillispie (Stephanie) of Austin, TX, Molly (Jason) McClintock of Wichita, Amy (Casey) Casamento of Louisville, KY and Jonathan May of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Caroline and Madeleine Gillispie of Austin, TX, Lily Jane McClintock of Wichita; nieces, Carol (James) Hoemann of Florissant, MO and Pat Meeker of Bloomington, IL. Memorial with 1st U.M. Church of Kirksville. A private family burial will be held at Highland Partk Cemetery in Kirksville. Services by Broadway Mortuary.
