Mrs. James Mears, aged 58 years, died at her home six miles southeast of Kirksville Saturday morning. Death was due to double pneumonia. Rachel See Mears was born November 24, 1872, in Putnam county. She was married August 21, 1897 to James Mears who with four children survive her. They are: Mrs. Thomas Talbert of Thomas, Okla.; Miles Mears of Kirksville, and Mrs. Emmett Morehouse and Mrs. George Johnson, living south of Kirksville. She also leaves two brothers, Harry See, of Winnebago, Minn., and Hardin See, of Webster City, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. George Nixon, Mrs. James Vandiver and Mrs. W.J. Lantz, of Kirksville, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Davis & Wilson Funeral Home conducted by Rev. John H. Lane, of Brashear. Interment was made in Highland Park cemetery.
