Marion Tuder Services Set For Thursday

Marion Elmer Tuder, 81, of 602 E. Pierce died at four o'clock Tuesday afternoon in a Kirksville hospital, where he had been a patient since August 25

Born Sept. 27, 1891 in Greentop, he was the son of Marion and Lora Jane Rigdon Tuder. He married Ethel Cooley who preceded him in death in 1941. On Aug. 14, 1962 in Kirksville, he married Artie C. Shoop Pope who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lee (Iola May) Evans of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sons, Burhl Tuder of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Bernard Tuder of Kansas City; two step-daughters, Mrs. Orville (Ola) Coy and Mrs. Glenn (Vernelle) Gerhold, both of Rt. 4, Kirksville; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two step-sons, Clyde Pope and Hurley Pope; two brothers, Earnest Tuder and Earl Tuder and three sisters, Geneva Crow, Edna Hart and Vada Hubrich.

Mr. Tuder was reared in the Greentop community where he attended the Trinity school. Following his schooling he was engaged in farming several years. Later he was employed for 20 years with the International Shoe Company in Kirksville. He then moved to Kansas City where he owned and operated a restaurant for several years until his retirement due to ill health. Following his retirement he moved to Kirksville.

Mr. Tuder was a veteran of World War I, having served with the United States Army from April 29, 1918 until June 10, 1919.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kirksville and the Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in the Johnson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. C. Howard Wade of Columbia, former pastor of the Kirksville Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery.

Bearers will be his grandsons.
