A.J. Wilhite was born in White County, TN, October 3, 1831 and died in Kirksville, MO, February 21, 1896, aged 64 years, 4 months and 18 days. His death was caused by kidney trouble, which disease caused intense suffering.

On the 10th of December, 1857, he was married to Cordelia Broyles. Five children were born two of whom died in early life, leaving one son and two daughters. He moved with his father to Sullivan County in 1837 where he lived until 1889, when he moved to Kirksville, to further the education of his children.

He was one of the most successful farmers of Sullivan County and as a citizen he was true and obedient. It is firmly believed by those who attended his bedside that he was converted to God before the death angel came to waft the spirit to another land. After the Funeral services the body was laid to rest in the Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville, MO.
