Steward N. Eagle, 78, member of a well-known Adair county family, died at the family home at Brashear yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. He was stricken with paralysis last Thursday and never regained consciousness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the U.B. Church in Brashear, conducted by Rev. M. McGlashing. Burial will be in the Paultown Cemetery.
Mr. Eagle was the son of William F. and Mariah Metcalf Eagle and was born in Ashland, Ohio March 15, 1854. He came to Missouri with his parents in 1857 and settled on a farm one mile east of Brashear where he grew to manhood. He was married November 7, 1877 to Miss Mariah Rice. To this marriage five children were born. One son died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Dessie May Barnhill died June 7, 1917.
Those surviving are one son, Charles Eagle of Brashear and two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Ashby of Brashear and Mrs. Grady Wimber of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; He also leaves his widow, two brothers, William and Elmer Eagle of Brashear and three sisters, Mrs. Alonzo Smith and Mrs. Harry W. Aplegate of Kirksville and Mrs. Eva Rice of Pete's Colorado; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. The late Thomas Eagle of Nickelton was a brother.
Mr. Eagle lived on a farm two miles southeast of Brashear, which he still owns, until 1932 when he retired and with his wife moved to Brashear.

Mrs. Mariah Eagle, 89 years old, died at her home in Brashear yesterday at 10:25 p.m. after being in failing health for the past two years and seriously ill for the past three weeks.
The daughter of John and Elizabeth (Keller) Rice, she was born December 9, 1858 in Ashland County, Ohio. She came to Missouri with her parents when she was five years old and settled on a farm west of Brashear, later moving to a farm near Hurdland where she lived with her parents until her marriage.
She was married on November 7, 1877 to Steward N. Eagle and five children were born to them. One son, Harry, died in infancy. One daughter, Mrs. Dessie Barnhill died June 7, 1917, aged 36 and another daughter, Mrs. Nellie Ashby died January 19, 1941 at the age of 54. Mrs. Eagle's husband died December 11, 1933.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Grady Wimber, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and one son, Charles H. Eagle of Brashear. There are six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Eagle was a member of the United Brethren Church in Brashear.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the United Brethren Church by Rev. G.D. Hammontree. Burial will be in the Paultown Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Easley Funeral Home until the time of the funeral.
Bearers will be S.E. Walters, J.E. Walters, Elmer Patterson, Elmer Henry, Charles Lindquist and Robert Zinn.
