Cassville Republican, April 18, 1918 - W. W. McCollum died at his home near Seligman, Friday, April 12, 1918 following a lingering illness of about two years or more, at the age of 69 years. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Clanton of Seligman and interment made in the New Salem cemetery. William W. McCollum had been a citizen of Barry County since he was a boy. He taught school for a number of years during his young manhood. He was married to Mollie Fawver of Seligman who with seven children survive him. The children are James A. and Claud of Pawnee, Okla., and Earl of Boulder, Colo; Mrs. Emma Roller of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Etta Majors, now at the old home place; Mrs. Jennie Peters of Boulder, Colo.; and Mrs. Gusta Roller of Rocky Comfort. - Contributed by the REPUBLICAN Rock Springs Correspondent: Editor: W. W. McCollum had for years been recognized as one of Barry County's most highly respected citizens. He was a man of most admirable disposition, a man of refined tastes and of noble character. He always looked on the bright side of life's picture and the world in which his life was spent was made better by his helpful example.
