B.J. Lawler, 75, well-known resident of the No. 8 community south of Cooter, died suddenly at his home Monday, July 18, his death being attributed to a heart attack.
Mr. Lawler was born in Madison County, Tennessee and moved to the south part of Pemiscot county in 1916, having farmed land in that area since that time. For the past two years he had taken an active interest in the Ark.-Mo. Rodeo Club of near Cooter and was also a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter with the Rev. Alonzo Barrow of Steele officiating. Burial was in the No. 8 cemetery with John W. German Funeral Home service.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Daisy Lawler, of the home, two sons, Ed Lawler of Cooter and Dennis M. Lawler of No. 8; and four daughters, Mrs. R.L. VanDyke of Oak Ridge community, Mrs. L.G. Morris of Arcola, Miss., Mrs. Clyde Talkington and Mrs. Charles Talkington, both of No. Eight.

Funeral services for Daisy Bell Lawler were conducted by the Rev. Joe Smith at the German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, August 6, 1972 at 2:30 p.m.
Mrs. Lawler, the widow of the late Bill Jefferson Lawler, died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. She was born in Henderson County, Tenn., on March 24, 1885.
She leaves four daughters, Maud Van Dyke of Steele, Anna Talkington, Ella Marie Talkington and Ruby Nell Morris, all of Lake Village, Ark.; two sons, Ed Lawler of Cooter and D.M. Lawler of Steele; 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Interment was in Number 8 Cemetery with the German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were William Barger, William F. Barger, Mason Laster, Paul D. Alexander, Richard Copeland, and O.D. Bond.
