Goldie Christine Hinds, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Willow Care Nursing Home. She was born November 25, 1928 to Richard J. and Beulah M. (Smotherman) Pennycuick in Mountain View, MO. She was 90 years old.
Goldie grew up and attended elementary school in Teresita, MO. She attended high school in Mountain View and graduated with the class of 1946. She also attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield before returning back home to Mountain View. She was married to Clint Hinds on January 7, 1952 when the couple went to Arkansas and eloped. They were happily married 59 years. Goldie spent 30 years working in the banking industry as a teller. She started her career at the Bank of Mtn. View, then later at the State Bank of Willow Springs which later became Mercantile Bank. Goldie had many enjoyments in life. She loved her flowers, especially her African violets and red impatiens. It has been said she truly enjoyed playing cards with her friends, particularly if she could win. Goldie liked travelling with her husband to the MFA meetings as well as bowling with her friends. She also loved getting together with her family at birthday parties. She was a faithful member of the Pomona Christian Church for many years where she served as pianist and as the church treasurer. Even though Goldie and Clint were not blessed with children of their own, she was highly regarded as a “second Mom” to many of her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew her.
Goldie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings: Fred Pennycuick, Velma Pennycuick Caffey, and Jody Pennycuick Cox.
She is survived by her sister, Marg Pennycuick Click and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Goldie’s name to the Pomona Christian Church Building Fund.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Pomona Christian Church with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Marcus Allen officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC. Online condolences may be left at www.willowspringsfuneralhome.com
