Velma Dale Powers, 81, of Shelbina, MO, formerly of Branson, MO, passed away at Salt River Community Care on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Velma was born on March 17, 1935, in Houston, Arkansas, the daughter of Jesse Unie Hall and Flavia Blanche Quinn. She was united in marriage to Gerald (Jerry) Dale on May 29, 1955 in St. Louis, MO and later married Odis Powers who both preceded her in death. Velma is survived by her three children, Mary Ann Schwieter and husband Sam of Shelbina, MO, Kathy Lynn Bridges and husband Richie of Forsythe, MO, and Gary Dale and special friend Venus Houde of Nursery, TX; four grandchildren, Ryan Schwieter, Nick Powers, Karena Dale, and Jerry Dale; one great-grandchild Tanner Dale; two sisters, Blanche Rhine and husband Glen, and Ruby Hinds; one brother Amos Hall and wife Rose. She was preceded in death by her son Gerald Patrick Dale; two sisters and two brothers; and infant granddaughter Susan Schwieter.
Velma was a strong Baptist and enjoyed doing things with her bible study group. She cherished going to the music shows in Branson and loved to travel and quilt. Jerry and Velma owned Jerry’s Restaurant in Shelbina and later owned Shady Lane Resort in Branson. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Funeral services will be 3 pm, Sunday, April 24, 2016, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, with Jim Bilbro officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 pm, Sunday afternoon at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Burial will be at the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, scheduled for a later date. Memorials may be made to Salt River Community Care.
