Obituary published Springfield-News Leader Nov. 10, 2010

About 75 years ago a thin handsome young man fell in love with a pretty little red haired girl. They married October 25, 1934 and spent fifty four years being loving partners in life, then God took him home in September of '89 and Jesus has been waiting to join them together for an eternity. So it happened that Geneva Kathleen Tillman Huff joined her Lord and Savior at Heavens on November 9, 2010 and waiting with Jesus was Clell Huff, her loving husband. Proceeding her in death were her husband of 54 years, Clell; her parents, James and Maude Tillman; sisters, Inez Tillman, Opal Kelly; brother, Jefferson (Pete) Tillman, and especially dear friends Trevo Patton and Edna Roller. During the Ozarks drought of the 1930's Clell, Geneva and baby Juanita moved to California, they worked two different dairy farms in Farmington and Ione, Calif. They returned to Missouri January, 1947 with 4 year old Jimmy, they also bought a farm on what is still called "Huffy Corner" 3 miles south of Rogersville as U and VV Highways. Geneva was an avid reader. Her crochet work of baby blankets, afghans and shawls have gone to Australia and to Germany. Geneva and Clell travelled to many craft shows and both had fun meeting all the people. Visits by Juanita, from Tulsa, were always about Geneva in the kitchen making her much celebrated Chocolate Morangs and Apple Pies. She was a homemaker until Jimmy graduated. She and her friend Trevo went to work in housekeeping at St. Johns she was a good listener when a patient needed to talk. She retired from there. Grandchildren's fond memories are of soft sugar cookies, her specialty and candy dishes always with Jelly Beans, Lemon Drops, and Candy Corn. She was a great cheer for any activity the "Grands" were in and traveled to see Kathy's dance recitals and showing her beautiful dogs. For many years she wrote the Elm Grove items for Ozark based Headliner. We all joked because everyone knew what we'd been up to but those who received the paper that had moved away enjoyed reading it. Survivors include her daughter, Juanita Marler & husband, Raymond of Bixby, Okla., and Nita's daughter, Kathy Gasnell of Tulsa, Okla. Her son James and wife, Judy of Rogersville; their son Clell E. Huff and wife, Kristi and their sons Jackson and Spencer. Their daughter Jamie Carlson and husband, James and their children, Austin and Taylor. Their daughter, Holly Barlow and husband, Clint, and son David with another child due in June 2011. Their youngest, James Jared Huff and wife Tammy and children Delaney (named after Geneva's Aunt) and Ethan. Geneva also has many surviving nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors. Special thanks to Elm Grove church and Pastor Todd Staples and wife, Rhonda she escorted to the dog shows. Also Christian Healthcare East Staff who fell in love with gave her such personal attention. Funeral services will be at 1 P.M. Friday November 12, 2010 at the Preston-Marsh Funeral Home Rogersville. Burial will be in the Linden Cemetery in Linden. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Elm Grove Methodist Church Building Fund.
