Growing up, Ruby attended Mount Ararat grade school. She was one of three salutatorians from Douglas County at her eighth-grade graduation in Ava, MO. After graduation from Cabool High School, Ruby taught school full-time for three years. She also was a substitute teacher in Willow Springs and Cabool. In later years, she worked several years in the office at Midwest Walnut. She married Wayne William Tetrick on May 25, 1946 in Mtn. Grove, MO, and to this union two children were born. Ruby led a highly active life; she loved to walk daily, sometimes 7-9 miles with some other ladies. She also played golf regularly with her husband and enjoyed camping. When she was home, she was an accomplished seamstress, and made clothes for her children. She also loved embroidery, cross stitching, and cooking. She and Wayne were members of the First Baptist Church in Willow Springs since 1956, where Ruby taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School to the 12-year-old-girls' class. She will be dearly missed by her friends, her family, and all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 74 years, Wayne; two sisters: Fae Davis and Wilma Anderson; and her brother, Sid Dunaway.
She is survived by her daughter, Annette Johnston and her husband, Norm of Ozark; her son, Gary Tetrick and Laura Roberts of Nixa; grandsons: Ryan (Sarah) Johnston, Scott (Kendra) Johnston, Josh Tetrick and Jordan (Jessica) Tetrick. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren: Kristjana Johnston, Jachin Johnston, Ethan Johnston, and June Tetrick; a sister, Virginia Mace of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mrs. Tetrick will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Gazebo in the Willow Springs City Cemetery with Pastor Ryan Johnston officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC. Online condolences may be left at www.willowspsringsfuneralhome.com
