Jackie Lou (Emmerich) Hinds, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022, while at Willow Care Nursing Home. She was born October 17, 1930, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of the late Jesse and Amanda Belle (Wilson) Emmerich Taylor; she was 91 years old.
Jackie lived most of her childhood in Kansas, but later moved to Willow Springs during her freshman year of high school. She graduated from Willow Springs High School Class of 1948. Jackie accepted Jesus as her personal savior and was baptized at the First Christian Church in Willow Springs on April 28, 1947. She was a faithful member of the Pomona Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She married Charles Robert (Bob) Hinds on October 17, 1948, and to this union four children were born. Jackie was a faithful wife and mother who provided many meals for her family and friends who stopped by. She loved music and sang in a ladies' trio called the Steepletone's for several years. Jackie was a licensed insurance sales agent at the Farm Bureau Insurance office in West Plains for 17 years. She was an avid reader; she also had a photographic memory, and it has been said that you could ask her any questions regarding history, geography, or politics and she would know the answer. She will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew her.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law, Clinton Hinds and Bill Hinds and sister-in-law, Goldie Hinds.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Jackie's memory be made to the Pomona Christian Church Building Fund, and they may be left at the church or the funeral home.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022, from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the Pomona Christian Church with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 P.M. with Pastors Joel Hinds, Scott Foster, and Marcus Allen officiating. Interment will be at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona.

Charles Robert (Bob) Hinds, the son of the late Joe R. Hinds and Edna (Gose) Hinds, was born February 29, 1928, at Hutton Valley, MO. He passed away January 18, 2023, just six weeks shy of his 95th birthday. Bob graduated from Willow Springs High School in 1945. He was the only living member of his class. Later, he attended the University of Missouri and received a degree in Agriculture. After WWII, he taught agriculture methods to veterans at Willow Springs High School. On October 17, 1948, he married Jackie Emmerich and they celebrated their 73rd anniversary in 2021.
Bob spent his entire life in the Hutton Valley area on the family farm raising purebred hogs, beef cattle, training dogs and auctioneering. This career took him across the country showing hogs and promoting the feeder pig industry. The grandchildren have many stories about their Grandpa taking them fishing and hunting on the Ozark Rivers. Bob always had to be busy and in his later years, he started writing books about his life experiences and traveled the 4-state region distributing those books. In addition, he started gardening and supplied family and neighbors with much produce. He even took a stint as a substitute teacher in the West Plains Schools. He was a faithful member of the Pomona Christian Church for many years. When he was unable to attend church, he created a church service each Sunday at the Willow West Apartments for himself and the residents.
He is preceded in death by his wife, two brothers: Clinton and Bill Hinds, and his parents.
Bob had an infectious laugh and enjoyed his life. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
A private family burial will take place Friday, January 20, 2023, with a Celebration of Life on February 4, 2023, at 5:00 PM at the Pomona Christian Church in Pomona, MO.
