Dorothy Hirner Borgstadt, 96, of Hannibal, Missouri and formerly of West Plains, Missouri, passed away at 9:05 PM, Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal, Missouri.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Howell Memorial Park in Pamona, Missouri. There will be no visitation.
The family is being served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri.
Dorothy was born April 17, 1925, in Hannibal, Missouri to Anthony John Hirner and Frances Nora Campbell Hirner . She was first married to John Verity, he proceeded her in death on October 18, 1973. Dorothy later married Howard E. Borgstadt on December 17, 1977, he proceeded her in death on March 21, 1995.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bernard Hirner and Donald Hirner; two sisters, Ann Miller and Kathryn Murphy; son in law, Garry Ledbetter; and two grandsons, Jeff Thompson and Matthew Ledbetter.
Dorothy was a graduate of McCooey High School in Hannibal, Missouri.
Professionally, Dorothy worked as a secretary for the Bluff City Shoe Factory, the West Plains Memorial Hospital, and the Regional Planning Commission in West Plains, Missouri. Dorothy was a longtime volunteer at the West Plains Ozark Medical Center, where she volunteered for over 45 years. When she wasn't volunteering you could find her reading or playing a friendly game of UNO, Bridge, Pinochle or Canasta while listening to bluegrass music. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family on canoe trips and visiting Branson where she loved taking in the music shows. Dorothy loved cooking for her family. One of her specialties was her fried chicken and angel biscuits.
Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal, Missouri and also St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Plains, Missouri.
