On March 2, 2014 Shirley Reeves left this life and walked into her eternal Glory to be with God forevermore.

Shirley's life was characterized by the love she poured out to others. She loved everyone she ever met. She was constantly giving of herself to help others, to pray for them, to cheer them. She never went to sleep at night without first saying her prayers.

She came to know Jesus when she was a young girl growing up in Speedway, West Virginia. She attended church regularly with her Grandma White, who made Shirley sit in front of her to keep an eye on her. Shirley said, "Grandma's purse would swing over my head when Grandma got filled with the Spirit' and would stand up and sing and clap her hands to the hymns." At a summer tent meeting, Shirley said, "I just knew it was time for me to know Jesus", and she gave her life to the Lord.

She was born Shirley June Cox in Speedway to Norma Thelma and James Clarence Cox on August 1, 1936. She was the third of eight children: Denny, Barbara, Shirley, Elaine, Ralph, Michael, Kevin and Jeff. She married Harold Estep and they had six sons together: Rocky, Rick, Dick, Nick, Mick and Mike. We girls who are lucky enough to be wives to these boys are truly blessed to part of a wonderful family. Later in her life, she married Charles Anthony Reeves, who precedes her in death.

Shirley has nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was a very involved Mother and Grandma. She loved nothing better than family gatherings.

Her passion in life was gardening and she spent many hours in her yard tending flowers, shrubs and vegetables. She shared thousands of pounds of produce with family and friends. She could make anything grow and I suspect it was her faith more than water or soil.

Like all of us, Shirley had her troubles in life, but she seemed to grow stronger from them. She was a source of strength, comfort, inspiration and joy to all who knew her. She has many family members and friends who will miss her deeply.

A graveside memorial service will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 11:00 am, at Brush Creek Cemetery, Jane, MO. Under the direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
