Janie Gibbons, a resident of Pomona, MO passed away peacefully while at her brother’s residence in Pomona Sunday, February 21, 2021. She was born June 14, 1954 in Sargent, MO to Delbert Lee and Mary Joy (Bennett) Coatney and was 66 years old.
Growing up, Janie attended elementary school at Burnham and Willow Springs. She attended Willow Springs High School, graduating with the Class of 1972. She was employed at Conway-Winter Shoe Factory, Paramount Industries, and Kim Wake Trucking; however, she will be best remembered from her time spent at the Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce License Office. She was the friendly, helpful face who greeted everyone at the license office for 10 years, before she retired in 2018. She was married to Jerry Wayne “Gibby” Gibbons on April 27, 2001 at his home in Pomona by Pastor David Lovan. Janie had many interests in life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her siblings. She had a passion for playing golf, although she refused to play with Gibby, saying he was way too bossy. It has been said her principal job was taking care of Gibby. She will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Michael Groves, and her grandson, Jayce Groves.
