Rowena M. French Hakan, "Sissy" 80, of Overland Park Kansas, passed away peacefully in her home at Park Meadows on March 10, 2016. She was born in Latour, Missouri to her wonderful parents Lowell and Lacy Mae French. She had two brothers, Russell and Robert French who preceded her in death. Rowena grew up on the French farm and what a beautiful life she had. Rowena married Harold Chaney in 1953 and they had a daughter Renee Mills. Rowena married Guy Warner Smith 08/08/159 Jackson Co MO. Rowena married Mel Hakan 05/18/1971 Las Vegas NV and they had a wonderful life together until his death on February 4, 2012. Mel left three wonderful children, Brian, David and Jane along with 5 grandchildren between them. There will be a Celebration of Ro's life on Thursday March 17, 2016 at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home, Holden, Missouri at 12:00 pm with burial immediately following at Holden Cemetery. The family request that no flowers be sent. Please send memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
