Rolland “Pig” Frank Paul was born December 11, 1932, in Perry, Iowa, to Glenn S. and Thelma Irene (Burkett) Paul. He departed this life on May 5, 2023, at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, Missouri.
Pig was raised on the family farm in Dallas County, Iowa. He completed the first eight grades in the country school. In Iowa there was a country school every two miles. He graduated from Granger High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Donna Marie Herrold. They were married on September 20, 1952, and to this union, three children were born, Deanna McNew (Howard), Paula West (John Marr) who resides in Warrensburg, Missouri, and Mike. Deanna and Mike preceded him in death. He had six grandchildren (Julie Owens, Jennifer Owens, Bradley McNew, Nathan Collins, Brian Paul & Brett Paul) and eight great-grandchildren (Ethan McNew, Aubrie McNew, Mason Owens, Bella McNew, Evan Owens, Lillie McNew, Lynn Collins & Keaton Paul).
He loved to play basketball. Both he and his brother Jay, who preceded him in death were very active in exhibiting hogs nationwide under the name, Paul Bros. Durocs. Pig went to Iowa State College and majored in animal husbandry. The first two years of college, he lived and worked in the hog barn and was involved with a fraternity and had many fond memories of that time. After three years of college, he volunteered for the draft and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and finished college on the GI Bill, he graduated in 1958. He made his career in the pork-producing industry. In 1969, he and Donna moved with their three children to Willow Springs to operate a farm called Pork Plantation. Pig was a member of the American Legion for 50 years and was a 30-year member of the Willow Springs Charities and the Lion’s Club. He was named Citizen of the Year twice by the Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Willow Springs School Board and as a director of the Duroc and Yorkshire National Feeder Pig Show in West Plains. Pig served as the presiding commissioner of Howell County.
Pig recognized an active life, but it would not have been possible without his wife, three children, and son-in-law, Howard.

Donna Marie Paul, 88, passed away at Willow Care on January 28, 2023. She was born on February 3, 1934, to William and Faye Herrold.
She was raised in Granger, Iowa, where she went to school and loved to play basketball. Upon graduation, she worked for an insurance company until September 20, 1952, when she married her high school sweetheart, Rolland "Pig" Paul. From that union, they had three children, Deanna McNew, Paula West, who resides in Warrensburg, Missouri, and Mike. Deanna and Mike preceded her in death. She had six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pig and Donna moved several times in her life, but the biggest move was in July 1969, when they and their three children moved to Willow Springs to operate a farm called Pork Plantation. Donna was very active in the farm, plus keeping the pedigree up to date on the farm and shipping of the "feeder pigs." She was very active in Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls. She also found time to be very active in town (which was very unusual for farm wives) by being president of the Chamber of Commerce and one-time was honored as the Citizen of the Year by the Chamber.
Her primary hobby was sewing. She also was very active and enjoyed holding events at the farm, entertaining people that came to visit and entertaining local people at annual functions like a super bowl party, New Year's breakfast, and the sale crew party for the local people that helped twice a year at the hog sales. For any event that was drawn up, her home was always an open house for her children, her children's friends, and some political turnout.
Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and a board member.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023, at United Methodist Church, Willow Springs, Missouri, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Willow Springs. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will be in Willow Springs Cemetery, Willow Springs, marked by Pig and Donna's headstone she helped design.
