BLANCH ARMSTRONG
Services for Mrs. Blanch Armstrong, 79, of Washburn, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sun. day at the United Methodist Church at Washburn. She died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Cox Medical Center at Springfield, where she had been a patient 10 weeks.

The Rev. Frank Hall and the Rev. Walter Smart officiated, and burial was in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery under direction of the Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville.

Mrs. Armstrong was born April 30, 1891 in Republic, Mo., the daughter of the late William and Mary Watson. She was a member of the Gunter Methodist Church of Republic.

She taught school in Christian County prior to moving to Washburn in 1912. She taught in rural Barry County and in the early 20's served as superintendent of the Washburn School System. Following retirement she was engaged in the mercantile business as long as her health permitted.

Survivors include a son, Frank Armstrong of Washburn; three daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Swindell, Mrs. Pauline Stone, and Mrs. Christine Schell, all of Washburn; two brothers, Gordon Watson of St. Louis and Emmett Watson of Louisville, Ky.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
