Obituary
In Loving Memory of Amanda (Mandy) Alice Freiberg, 80.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Surrounded by loving family, Mandy’s life stories were replayed and celebrated together before she peacefully departed of natural causes on October 3, 2023.

Mandy was born on November 16, 1942 in Denver Colorado. She had her Father’s blue eyes and her Mothers red hair, a potent combination and she knew it. She never met a stranger, and most people would describe her as a firecracker. Not the explosive type, but rather the feisty type... a person who was a lot of fun to be around.

Mandy embraced life, never worried about looking foolish, and always had a great story. You just knew that by hanging out with her, you were going to have a good time… and it would turn into another one of her stories.

Mandy was a dedicated mother who poured her heart into nurturing her children and grandchildren. She possessed a talent for making each family gathering a momentous occasion, where her warm smile and distinctive laugh would energize the room. All the grandkids loved curling up on her lap and asking, “Gramma tell me a story”.

Mandy's passions were as diverse as her talents. Leading her daughter’s Brownie troop, winning ‘Rookie of the year’ racing cars at Lakeside Speedway, camping, winning awards for her quilts, mapping out the family genealogy, story-telling, devouring new books, and conquering jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Occasionally, she would enjoy a Margarita, which is when her singing skills would emerge… which somehow managed to sweep everyone into the chorus lines with her.

Mandy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill Freiberg. She is also survived by her daughter Natalie and husband Mike Marshall, son Billy and wife Christine, and son Greg and wife Anna. Mandy has eight grandchildren, Stephen, Brianna, Amanda, Elizabeth, Jacob, Daniel, Allison and Sydney. She also leaves behind beloved family members in Colorado and California, including brother Samual Maestas, Jr and sister Rebecca Nehring.

In honoring her memory, let us remember Mandy for the loving example she set for embracing life and creating meaningful and lasting memories. Though she has bid us farewell, her spirit will live on in the stories we share, the lessons she taught, and the love she sowed.

A celebration of Mandy's life will be held on October 8th at the Freiberg House in Hollister Missouri.
Mandy's journey on this Earth has ended, but her love and presence will forever remain etched in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace...

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is doubt, faith;

Where there is despair, hope;

Where there is darkness, light;

Where there is sadness, joy…”
