WILLIAM JANNEY IS DEAD
Former Well Known Pioneer of This City Passes Away at Neosho
William Janney, a former well known pioneer resident of this city died at his home in Neosho yesterday. Carl Russell Janney, of Kendricktown, who is the only child of the deceased, received news of the death last evening and has gone to Neosho.
Mr. Janney was about 78 years of age at his death. He came to Carthage 44 years ago, building the brick residence on what is now known as the Calstock farm two miles east of this city. He married Miss Leona Stevens, who was a sister of Mrs. H. C. Cowgill and Mrs. C. B. Wood of this city. His wife died shortly after the birth of Carl Janney and four years later he married Miss Sallie Johnson who survives him.
