Funeral services for Larry Oren McMurtrey, 80, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. McMurtrey passed away at 9:51 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024, at his home.
He was born April 15, 1944, in Douglas County, Missouri, to Lawrence Oren McMurtrey and Reca Collins McMurtrey. On May 25, 1965, he was married at Pomona, Missouri, to Marcella Brower, who preceded him in death on July 13, 2019. Larry graduated from West Plains High School with the Class of 1962 and worked for West Plains Bridge for thirty-two years, having retired in 2003. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gun shows, arrowhead hunting and watching WWI, WWII, Vietnam and Korean war documentaries. Mr. McMurtrey was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and formerly Second Baptist (Providence) Church.
His parents, wife, one sister, Donna Manning, one niece, Rita Bailey and two brothers-in-law, Booth Bailey and Ron Manning, preceded him in death.
Visitation services will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral services for Marcella Norine McMurtrey, 72, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Bethel Baptist Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. McMurtrey passed away at 4:07 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019 at her home.
She was born October 13, 1946, at Olden, Missouri to Edward Cyril “Bud” Brower and Helen Lucille Brower. Marcella graduated from Willow Springs High School with the Class of 1964. On May 25, 1965, she was married to Larry McMurtrey at Pomona, Missouri. She loved her kids and grandchildren. Marcella enjoyed reading the Bible and collecting Angel figurines. Mrs. McMurtrey was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Larry McMurtrey, of the family home; three children, Lisa Garner and husband, Roger, Tecumseh, Missouri, Lori Thompson and husband, Leland, St. Robert, Missouri and Michelle Bales and husband, Eric, Bakersfield, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Tiffany Bales, Terry Lee Saathoff, Anthony Saathoff, Teresa Saathoff, Kimberly Morris, Justin Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Lucinda Dewitt, Taylor Garner, Kristopher Garner, Dessa McBride, Jenna Wright, Jessica Bales and James Bales; thirty-three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Doug Brower and wife, Jo, Pomona, Missouri and Louie Brower and wife, Tami, Pomona, Missouri; four sisters, Janice Fritts and husband, Kenneth, Pomona, Missouri, Virginia Mitchell, South Elgin, Illinois, Karen Havens, Willow Springs, Missouri and Debbie Vigdal, Thayer, Missouri; sister-in-law, Dea Bailey, Dillon, Montana; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, one grandson, Leland Thompson Jr., four brothers, George, Chester “Pete”, Gerald and Ronald Brower and two sisters, Rebecca Lake and one infant, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family or Bethel Baptist Church and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
