Rodger William Adkinson of Willow Springs, MO, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, on December 3, 2023, at the age of 76.
Rodger was born to William and Shelia (Johnson) Adkinson on November 27, 1947, in Dekalb, Illinois. Rodger married Elaine Sanderson on October 1, 1966. After retiring from the United States Army, he worked for Byron Nuclear Plant until retirement. He was an active member of First General Baptist Church in Willow Springs. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Rodger is preceded in death by his parents, William and Shelia; his wife, Elaine; his brother, John Adkinson; his brother-in-law, Greg Hartness; and his granddaughter, Colette South.
A visitation for Rodger will be held at Willow Funeral Home, LLC on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the First General Baptist Church on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Scott Williamson officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at the Willow Springs City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC.

Elaine Marie Adkinson, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 while at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, MO. Born December 29, 1946 to Challuce Oliver and Marjorie Caroline (Roth) Sanderson in DeKalb, IL, she was 71 years old.
Elaine grew up in DeKalb, attended the schools there and graduated from the DeKalb High School. She was married to Rodger William Adkinson on October 1, 1966 in DeKalb. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved God. She assisted her husband in his pastoral duties wherever he was called, and more recently at the First General Baptist Church in Willow Springs. Elaine would spend her spare time doing counted cross-stitch or playing the piano; however, she was an avid reader. It has been said she was an accomplished encourager and a great listener, and especially loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was never seen without a smile on her face, even when she was in pain. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family, as well as all who knew her.
Mrs. Adkinson is preceded in death by her parents, and infant granddaughter, Colette Marie South.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rodger; a son, R.W. Adkinson and his wife, Sandy of Willow Springs; a daughter, Jessica Marie South and her husband, Sam of Rochelle, IL; two grandsons, Tim South and his wife, Megan and Kevin South and his wife, Courtney also of Rochelle, IL. Further survivors include great-grandchildren, Oakland South, Laiklyn South, Trenton & Kami; a sister, Lavonne (Bonnie) Aldridge and her husband, Ron of Newark, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 A.M. at the First General Baptist Church in Willow Springs with Pastors Rodger W. Adkinson and Scott Williamson officiating. Interment will be at the Willow Springs City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC
