Daughter of Charles Alenor McDaniel and Marion Robertson
Louisa Jane McDaniel, daughter of Charles and Marion McDaniel. was born in Clark county, Mo., Sept. 14, 1844, and departed this life at Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Monday morning, November 9, 1931, aged 87 years, 1 month and 26 days. She was the last one of her family of thirteen children.
On April 25, 1867, she was united in marriage with Geo. F. Hunter. Eight children were born to this union. Her husband and five children preceded her in death, Thomas J., Ida J., Samuel E., Mills E., and Iris I. She leaves to mourn their loss, three children, Mrs. Alice A. Merrick, Granger, Mo.; Roxa R. Keeler, Perlee, Iiwa, and Charlie B.
Hunter of California; fifteen grandchildren, Irene Entwistel, Vivor.da Freshow Icye, and Hunter Joy, Thelma Madder, Beryle Miller, Lyda Cornell, Leola Steinmeyer, Wayne and Vaughn Keeler, Charlie, Eddie and Anna Lee Merrick, Eston and Stanley Hunter. Seven great grandchildren, Gene Madden, Madalynre Steinmeyer, Maxine, Charles and Marjorie Jean Cornell, Deloris and Wayne Freshour, and a host of relatives and friends. She united with the Methodist church many years ago, and was always a faithful worker in whatever church was nearest to her. She was always a good neighbor and nurse in the community in which she lived. Many of the younger generation owe their lives to her through her constant care.
Her home was always open and her hands ready to do anything for those needing care and shelter. The funeral services were held at the Mt. Sterling Methodist church Wednesday at 1 o'clock in charge of Rev. Gilbert of Cantril, Ia. Burial at Conkle cemetery.
Beautiful musical selections rendered by Helen Shriver, Mrs. E. J. Parsons, assisted by Mrs. Lloys Shriver at the piano.
The pall bearers were Lloys Shriver. Wm. Mills, Lloyd Madden, Allen Drummond, Harley Cackley, C. L. Kerr..
