FUNERAL OF JOHN SMITH
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Central Methodist church of this city, for John H. Smith, who died in Joplin, early Monday morning. Mr. Smith was born in Dayton, Ohio, November 30, 1845. He had lived in Neosho since 1881, and was a member of the M.E. church, South, G. all A. of R., these Masons and Odd Fellows, memberships being held in Neosho. He was the father of ten children, six of whom are living:
J.W. Smith, of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Adolf Peters of Kansas City, Harry C. Smith, Emerson E. Smith and Clem L. Smith of Springfield, Mo. Mrs. Smith died a year ago the fifth of last July. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery, ten miles northeast of Neosho, beside his wife.

*A descendent of Mr. Smith's contacted MGP with the information that John Henry Smith was orphaned at a young age. When adopted his name was changed.
