Jonathan Reed died Sunday, March 12, 1905, at his home 3 1/2 miles southwest of Purdy, of old age and was 84 years, 11 months, and 28 days old. He was born in Virginia, March 15, 1820 and came Springfield, MO and lived there at an early day when there were very few houses in that place. He went to Kentucky from there and from there to this county in 1872 where he has since resided. He was married twice and leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death. Rev. J. T. Brattin conducted funeral services at the grave in Cassville Cemetery Monday, after which the remains were laid to rest.
