John Annie Hampton, 64, of Holland, Mo., died at the Cochran hospital at Holcomb, Mo., August 8, 1944. Acute appendicitis is said to have caused her death. She was a member of the Church of Christ and had lived in this vicinity for 21 years.
Funeral services were conducted at the Church of Christ with H.E. Pierce officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Hampton; one daughter, Mrs. Luther Boroughs of Steele and one son, Billy Joe Hampton; one brother, F.J. Queen of Ripley, Tenn., three sisters: Mrs. Carl Styers, Mrs. Aubrey Gay and Mrs. Glenn Robbins, all of Ripley, Tenn. Also three half-brothers, Earl Queen of Memphis, Tenn., and Aaron Queen of Ripley, Tenn.; four step-sons, Pvt. Lawrence Hampton of Camp Gruber, Okla., TSgt Arthur Hampton of Camp Howze, Texas, Sgt. George W. Hampton of Camp Mackall, North Carolina, Willie Hampton of Charter Oak, Mo., two step-daughters, Mrs. Roy Bixler, of Charter Oak, Mo., Mrs. E.P. Evans, Hayti, Mo., and 20 grandchildren and a host of friends.
Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery with German Undertaking Co. in charge.
