Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Mittie Clemitt Hampton, who passed away at Sikeston last week.

Mrs. Hampton was born September 23, 1871 at Obion, Tenn., to Charlie and Mary Guiwn. She was married as a young girl to George Hampton and to them was born five children, three daughters and two sons. One daughter, Pearl, preceded her in death about 23 years ago and her husband died about 40 years ago. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ at an early age, and remained a faithful member until her death at Sikeston, where she had made her home for the past five years. Previous to that she had been a resident of Steele. She passed way Saturday morning, October 24, 1953 at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 1 day.

Bro. Mason Harris conducted funeral services, which were held at the Church of Christ in Steele. Interment was at Mount Zion Cemetery and German Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were grandson of Mrs. Hampton's: Raymond F. Brooks of Memphis, Jack Brooks of Steele, and Joe Hampton, George Hampton, Jack Hampton and Clede Hampton, all of Sikeston.

Survivors are: two sons, Tommy Hampton of Sikeston and Claude Hampton of St. Louis; two daughters, Mrs. Elnora Brooks of Steele and Mrs. Georgia Lee Hargett of Caruthersville; 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
