Joseph Walter Hoskins, 90, of Steele, Mo., died Sunday, February 28, 1999 at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo.
Born August 31, 1908 in Bath Springs, Tenn., he was the son of the late Ellis and Willie Gates Hoskins.
Walter was united in marriage to Ida Davis Hoskins in 1947 in Jackson, Tenn. She preceded him in death.
He was a farmer and a member of Oak Ridge Methodist Church.
Mr. Hoskins leaves one sister, Mildred Whitener, of Steele; Three nephews: Wendell Hoskins, Charles Hoskins, and Lee Whitener all of Steele; Five nieces: Shirley Callens of Steele, Faye Merritt of Hunter, Mo., Melesia Razo of Woodbridge, Va., Vicki Lepanto of O'Fallon, Ill., and Rebecca Wilfong of Wappapello, Mo.; One sister-in-law, Eva Lou Hoskins, of Steele.
Funeral services for Mr. Hoskins were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, 1999 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele with Rev. Glyn Davis officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Bradshaw Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Howard Henry, Steve Atwill, Dean Cole, Bud Hurley, Harold Jackson and James Morris.

Mrs. Walter Hoskins, of near Denton, died Saturday at Walls Hospital in Blytheville, following the birth of a stillborn son last Thursday. Funeral services for the baby were held Friday afternoon at the German Chapel by Rev. J. Arthur Brown, pastor of the M. E. Church, and burial was made in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hoskins were held Sunday afternoon at the Assembly of God Church in Vicksburg by Rev. J. R. Lenning, of Parma and pastor of the church. She was laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery with German Undertaking Co. in charge of arrangements.

Obituary
The death angel has again visited our community and took from us, Ethel, beloved wife of Walter Hoskins. She was born at Evansville, Ark., December 22, 1919 to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wilhite, and died November 1, 1941, at the age of 21 years, 10 months, and 9 days. She was married to Walter Hoskins, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Hoskins, who loved her as a daughter of their own, and are deeply grieved by her death.
She leaves to mourn her loss, besides the young husband, and her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Faulkner of Hornersville, Mrs. Meda Call of Jenkins, Mo., and Mrs. Emma Everwright of Gobler; four brothers, Edward who is married and lives at Kennett, and Farris, Paul and Leon at home; also grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wilhite of Odell, Ark.
The funeral services for Mrs. Hoskins were largely attended which attested to the high esteem in which the families are held.
Pallbearers were held Jerry Waller, Raymond Brewer, Cooper Heathcock, Marvin Fullerton, Leon McGarrity and Edmond Clark.
