Jimmie Lewis Cecil, 69, of Steele, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 in Steele.
Born Oct. 31, 1942 in Steele, he is the son of the late Willie Lewis Cecil and Bertie DePriest Cecil.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Claude Flowers and "Shot" Flowers; and two sisters, Marie Cecil Nace and Anna Mae Cecil.
Jimmie was united in marriage to Linda Crews on Oct. 9, 1962 in Steele.
He owned and operated C & A Oil Company in Steele and later was employed by MFA Oil Company. He was a member of the Oddfellows, coached Little League baseball, a past alderman in Steele, a Boy Scout leader and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mr. Cecil leaves wife, Linda Cecil, of the home; One son, Mark Allen Cecil and Mary-Milam Cecil of Little Rock, Ark.; Two daughters: Kathy Campbell and Todd of Cooter and Amy Grubbs and Hunter of Little Rock, Ark.; Four brothers: Berry Cecil and Dean Cecil, both of Campbell, Freddie Cecil of Poplar Bluff and Jessie Cecil of Sumpter, S.C.; Two sisters: Bernice Miller and Billie Dove Wiggleworth, both of Wimberley, Texas; Three granddaughters: Katie and Kara Campbell and Sarah Cecil.
Funeral services for Mr. Cecil were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9, at the First Baptist Church in Steele with Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge of services.
