Thomas E. Allbritton, 74, of Steele, Mo., died Wednesday, July 12, 2000 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.

Born July 10, 1926 in Steele, he was the son of the late Currie Shelton and Vivian Davis Allbritton.

Tom was united in marriage to Jane Alexander on June 16, 1945. She preceded him in death June 14, 1987.

After 35 years with the U.S. Postal Department, Tom retired in April 1989. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the Church of Christ in Steele.

Mr. Allbritton leaves two sons: Joe Albritton and John Allbritton of Memphis, Tenn.;
Two daughters: Donna Pinson of Tampa, Fla., and Suzanne Robinson of Steele; and
Seven grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Allbritton were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2000 at the Church of Christ in Steele with Mr. John Mundy officiating.

Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Pallbearers were John Smith, Gary Bruton, Eugene Kellems, Charles Pritchard, Bo Raulerson and Steve Wheatley.

Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Poteet, Hobart Poteet, Chester Barnes, David Whitfield, Buck Whitfield, Gervis Capps, Gene Ladd, F.M. Miller and Frank Dunahoo.

Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Allbritton was born February 28, 1927 at Kensett, Arkansas and died June 14, 1987 at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis after a long illness, at the age of 60.

She was the daughter of the late Homer and Alice Thornton Alexander.

Jane taught arts and crafts in her home for several years.

She was a member of the Steele Church of Christ.

On June 16 1945 at Caruthersville, Missouri she was united in marriage to Thomas E. Allbritton.

Her survivors are: her husband, Thomas Allbritton of Steele; two sons, Joe Tom Albritton of Memphis and John Allbritton of Valdosta, Georgia; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Pinson of Olive Branch, Miss. and Mrs. Suzanne Robinson of Steele; a sister, Mrs. Martha Hughes of Jackson, Missouri; two grandsons, Joe Pinson and John Mark Allbritton; and a granddaughter, Melissa Allbritton.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 17, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Steele with Mr. Mason Harris officiating.

Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Pallbearers were Buck Whitfield, David Whitfield, Paul Fullerton, Roy Barnes, Chester Barnes, and Merlon Bishop.
