Mrs. Alpha Burns, 91, died March 19, 1988 at River Oaks Nursing Home in Steele, Mo.
A daughter of the late Hiram Asher and Mattie Vaughn Asher, she was born September 30, 1896 at Cooter, Mo.
At Cooter, July 20, 1913 she was united in marriage to R.E. Burns. Besides her husband, a son, Harold, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Burns was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter. She was a lifelong resident of Cooter where she was a friend to the entire community, serving them in many ways.
She leaves: a son, Tom Burns of Cooter; A daughter, Mrs. Olivia Dennis of Cooter; One brother, "Dutch" Asher of La Plata, Maryland; A sister, Mrs. Mary Jewel Pugh of Cooter; Four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 21, 1988, at 10:00 a.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele with Rev. David Powell officiating.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home in charge.
