Ella Paulina Pitts Horner, age 80, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away Friday, January 15, 2010, in her home.

She was born April 4, 1929, in Monett, Missouri, the daughter of Merter and Nettie (Ashby) Pitts.

On March 2, 1952, she was united in marriage to Glennon Horner, M.D., who survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Norma Horner and her friend Debbie Byers of Tontitown, Arkansas, Barbara Huddleston and her husband, Bob of Jesseville, Arkansas, Peg Rowen and her husband, Stuart of Kansas City, Missouri and Patty Haak of Springdale, Arkansas; one brother, Bill Pitts of Arlington, Texas and five grandchildren, Erin, Rachael and Dan Huddleston and Roger and Joe Haak and seven nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, six brothers and two sisters.

Ella received her education at Monett, graduating from Monett High School. She then attended Monett Junior College and graduated from Jewish Hospital in St. Louis as a registered nurse.

She worked through the years of her marriage as a registered nurse in Columbia, Missouri and in 1969 moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she was a volunteer public health nurse.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 20, 2010, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Brother Bob Neeley will conduct the services.

Burial will be in Horner Cemetery, Cassville.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until service time Wednesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.


Dr. Horner grew up & graduated from Cassville High School. He furthered his education graduating from SMSU & UA. On 2 Mar 1952 he married Ella Paulina Pitts. In 1957 he was in the 1st graduating class of the MU Medical School. In 1969 he graduated from the Anesthesia Program. He did over 35,000 solo anesthesia cases. He was an avid fisherman & hunter. He made over 120 fishing trips to Canada taking several of his family & friends. He was a big Razorback fan & a long-time contributor to the UA Scholarship Fund.

Dr. Horner was a member of the United Methodist Faith & Ducks Unlimited, being the originator of the NWAR Chapter. He was a prolific storyteller. He spent many of his summers at Roaring River honing his fishing skills.
