Gary Eugene Shriver, 52, son of Chester Shriver and Jerry (Cook) Miller, was born on Nov. 22, 1957, in Kansas City, Mo. He passed away in his home on Sept. 2, 2010.
Gary was preceded in death by his dad, Chester Shriver; his brother, Tom Shriver; his stepdad, Walter Miller; and his grandparents, Ralph and Opal Cook and Arthur and Ada Shriver.
He is survived by his mother, Jerry Miller of Elk Creek; three daughters and their families, Brian and April Loftis and their two daughters, Andee and Mahali, of Hollister, Mo., Doug and Candi Swan and their two children, James and Zenobia, of Raymondville, Mo., and Justin and Brandi Briscoe and their son, Justin Jr., of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; his sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Mike Wilson of Houston, Mo.; his stepbrother, Walter Miller Jr. and wife, Katherine. He is also survived by two nephews their families, Newt Wilson of Houston Mo., and his children, J.J. and Lexi Wilson, and Nat and Kari Wilson of Blue Springs, Mo., and their son, Evan Lovett.
Gary grew up in the Tyrone community and was a graduate of Summersville High School in 1976. He served in the United States Army from 1976-1979.
Gary attended church at Nagle and was a civil servant for over 25 years.
Gary loved his family and was especially proud of his grandbabies. He was an avid golfer and could often be found on the golf course with his best friend, Larry Mainer.
Gary was a wonderful son, brother, dad, PaPa, uncle and friend.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Nagle Christian Church with Rick Spacek officiating. Pallbearers were Newt Wilson, Nat Wilson, Tom Shriver, Steve Shriver, Larry Mainer and Keith Chambers. Honorary pallbearers were James Swan, Zenobia Swan, Andee Loftis, Mahali Loftis and Justin Briscoe Jr. Burial with full military honors was in the Nagle Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
