Lester Floyd Shriver, 63, son of Arthur and Ada Brewer Shriver, was born July 20, 1938, in the Nagle community in Texas County. He died April 14, 2002, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield from complications from diabetes.
He attended grade school at Nagle and graduated from Summersville High School in 1955. After gradua-tion, he worked briefly in Kansas City.
He served in the Army from Oct. 24, 1961, until Sept. 30, 1963.
He married Linda Curnutt July 3, 1969. They had four children and lived near Tyrone, where they owned and operated a diary farm and raised their family.
Mr. Shriver was a member of the Nagle Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arthur, Loyd and Chester; and one sister, Letha.
Surviving are his wife of the home; two sons, Steve and Tom Shriver of Willow Springs; two daughters, Cheta Shelton of Bucyrus and Christin Keller of Summersville; four brothers, David Lavern of East Peoria, Ill., John of Tyrone, Charles of O'Fallon and Walter of Ozark; his friends, Rosa Collins, Thelma Shriver, Jerry Miller, Angela Chalfant and Elmer and Yvonne Bradford; a foster daughter, Julie Grogan; three grand-daughters and three step-grandsons.
Services were April 17 at the Nagle Christian Church with Doug Cage and David Ingalls officiating. Burial was in the Nagle Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home of Cabool.
