Mrs. Lillie Ruth Bray, 85, of rural Steele, Mo., died Sunday, January 21, 1996, at the Kennett Health Care Center in Kennett, Mo.
She was a daughter of the late Francis (Frank) McClanahan and Lula Pearson McClanahan.
In 1928, she was united in marriage with Herman Stuart, who preceded her in death in 1935.
On July 12, 1941 she was united in marriage with Lavell Bray, who preceded her in death August 8, 1990.
A sister, daughter, and a nephew also preceded her in death.
Of the Baptist faith, Mrs. Bray had operated a grocery store.
Mrs. Bray leaves three sons: Kenneth Stuart of Belton, Texas, Frank Stuart of Kennett, and Ronald Bray of Beebe, Ark.; two daughters: Vivian Heathcock of Hillman, Mich., and Ruth Ann Hicks of Oakdale, Ill.; one brother, Charles McClanahan, of Steele; a sister, Mrs. Velda Williams, of Steele; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bray were held Wednesday, January 24, 1996 at the Nunnery Baptist Chapel in Denton, Mo., with Rev. Leo Shumaker officiating.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Michael Stuart, Frank Stuart, Bobby Gene Hicks, Brian Poplin, Rick Hicks, and Patrick Stuart.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Joe Stuart, Reggie Hicks, Eddie Poplin, Mark Taylor and Scott Taylor.
