Funeral services for Mr. Herbert (Hoover) Mercer, 55, were held Tuesday, September 25, 1984, at The Pentecostal Church of God in Steele. Rev. Kenny Durham officiated.
Mr. Mercer was born on November 5, 1928, in Dyer, Tenn., and died September 23, 1984 in Poplar Bluff. He was a mechanic, having operated a business in Hayti for several years.
He was a member of The Pentecostal Church of God in Steele and a Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Mercer was married to Bonnie Eaton on August 15, 1950, at Piggott. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary McCulloch.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Mercer of Hayti; One daughter, Debbie Oatsvall of St. Joseph, Mich.; One granddaughter, Nikki Oatsvall of St. Joseph; Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Mercer of Hayti; One brother, Mr. T.J. Mercer of Hayti; And one sister, Mrs. Ruby Hatton of Naylor, Mo.
Pallbearers were Bryan Oatsvall, Thomas Eaton, Jerry Eaton, Rickie Eaton, Ray Shoup, Robert McCulloch, John R. Franklin and Dale Gunnells.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cenetery near Steele with The John W. German
Funeral Home of Hayti in charge of arrangements.
