Frank M. Bates, Retired Carpenter, Dies at Centralia
CENTRALIA, JAN. 26 - Frank M. Bates, 80, retired carpenter, died at 6:45 o'clock last night at the Way Nursing Home here. He had been ill several months.
Born in Schuyler County, Illinois, He came to Boone County 61 years ago and had lived in this community ever since.
He was first married to Miss Mary Palmer, who with their two children, Charlie Bates and Mrs. Fannie Maude Prunty, preceded him in death. In 1909 he married Miss Nettie Toalson and she died Sept. 4, 1950, Their son, Johnnie Bates of St. Louis, and seven grandchildren survive.
The body will be at the Ballew Funeral Home until services to be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Baptist Church by the pastor, the Rev. Robert Gibson. Burial will be in Centralia Cemetery.
