Mrs. Frank Bates Dies at Centralia; Funeral Tomorrow
CENTRALIA, SEPT. 5 - Mrs. Frank Bates, 70, died yesterday at the Way Nursing Home in Centralia, following a long illness.
Mrs. Bates was the former Miss Nettie Toalson. She was born near Sturgeon on Nov. 7, 1879, and had lived in Centralia most of the past 40 years. She lived in Columbia a few years.
She is survived by her husband; a son, John Bates, St. Louis; a grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Ed Jackson, Centralia, Mrs. Melvin Heath, Moberly, Mrs. Cicero Mayes, Columbia, and Mrs Homer Dempsey, DeWitt, Ia.; three brothers, Frank Toalson, Arch Toalson, near Sturgeon and Warren Toalson, Jefferson City. A sister, Mrs. Ella Bowne, Surgeon, died in April.
The body will remain at the Ballew Funeral Home until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Centralia Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert W. Gibson. Burial will be in the Centralia Cemetery.
