Funeral services for Darrell Robert Burgess, 82, Pomona, Missouri, will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2012, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. Burgess died at 7:30 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2012, at his home. He was born March 6, 1930, in Howell County, Missouri, to Letcher and Hazel Dollins Burgess. On September 22, 1949, he was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Norma Maye Bunch, who preceded him on death on March 24, 2002. He worked in construction, enjoyed gardening "tomatoes" and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Mr. Burgess was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Brenda Provow, husband, Donald, Pomona, Missouri; three grandchildren, Amanda Crawford, husband, Leslie, Pomona, Missouri, Robert Burgess, wife, Carrie, Fulton, Missouri, and Susan Burgess, special friend, David Asberry, West Plains; five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Nash, Gavin, Lane and Kinsley; two brothers, James Burgess, Tommy Burgess, wife, Loretta, Seligman, Missouri; two sisters, Mildred Wood, husband, Raymond, Willow Springs, Missouri and Louise Myers, Matton, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Burgess, Wanda Burgess and Joan Burgess, all West Plains, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife, one son, Jackie Burgess, four brothers, Roy, Charles, Dean, G. W. Burgess and one sister, May McAnally, precede him in death.
Mr. Burgess will lie in state from 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.[ozarkareanetwork.com, Mar 30, 2012]
