Funeral services for Rosie M. (Burgess) Dye, 78, West Plains, were held Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at Central Calvary Baptist Church under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mrs. Dye died 6:20 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo. She was born Jan. 5, 1931, at Leota, Mo., to Tinker and Agnes Elsie Joice Douglas. She was married to James Burgess and later was married to Issac Lee Dye. Mrs. Dye liked to travel, loved to sing and enjoyed spending time with family. She was of the Church of Christ faith. She is survived by four children, Linda Whitaker, husband, Alvin, Laquey, Mo., Elaine Wilson, husband, Eddie, Laquey, Mo., Kenneth Burgess, wife, Shawana, Republic, Mo., and Marilyn Burgess, West Plains; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Tommy Douglas, wife, Gloria, Lebanon, Mo.; four sisters, Lorene Copeland, West Plains, Maxine Burks, husband, Floyd, Baxter Springs, Kan., Barbara Brower, husband, Clyde, Willow Springs, Mo., and Tammy Devaulth, husband, Mike, Broken Arrow, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, step-mother, Wava Douglas; one grandchild, Tabitha; one great-granddaughter, Sierra; and one sister, Hope Douglas, precede her in death. Burial was in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Children's Miracle Network and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
