Funeral services for Nola Velma White, 94, West Plains, Mo., were Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. White died at 2:48 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at her home.
She was born March 22, 1918, at Roosevelt in Douglas County, Mo., to John Thomas Thornton and Ada Francis Pittman Thornton. On July 5, 1935, she was married at West Plains, Mo., to Harley White, who preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1995. Before her retirement, Mrs. White was employed with Conaway-Winter in Willow Springs, Missouri, for 18 years. She loved spending time with her family and friends; quilting and gardening were her passion. Mrs. White was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by three children, Kenith White, wife, Irene, West Plains, Mo., JoAnn wiese, husband, Arnold, Willow Springs, MO., and Dale White, wife, Vurna, West Plains, Mo.; son-in-law, Donald Sneed; 14 grandchildren, Sheryl Ford, Merline Luton, husband, Jerry, David Wiese, wife, Krista, Branton White, Kenitha Alkman, husband, Jim, Richard White, wife, Anna, Dane Wiese, wife, Emma, Rachell Tomlinson, husband Ronald, Jennifer Henson, husband, Mike, Heather White, Christopher Woolbright, wife, Samantha, Charles Sneed, Josh Sneed and Chris Sneed; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Opal Clinton, Willow Springs, Mo., Christine Altermatt, Mountain View, Mo., and Lawanda Towell, Manis, Missouri; special friends and neighbors, Linda and Martin Beljean; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband; daughter, Elaine Francis White-Sneed; grandson Michael White; grandson-in-law, Robert Ford; five brothers, Loyd, Marvin, Gene, Orvil and Ray Thornton; and two sisters, Orpha Clinton and Treva Thornton, precede her in death.
Burial was in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Thornton Cemetery or College of the Ozarks, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. On line condolences may be expressed at robertsondrago.com. [Howell County News, Wed., Sept. 5, 2012]
