Funeral services for Frances Irene Carter, 80, West Plains, were Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mrs. Carter died at 11:50 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Ozarks Medical Center. She was born Oct. 16, 1928, at Harvard, Neb., to Henry and Zora Mullins Skinner. In May of 1948, she was married at Las Vegas, Nev., to Ross Lee Carter, who preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1998. Mrs. Carter had been an inspector for Coca-Cola Bottling Company and was a greeter at Wal-Mart. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and also loved spending time with friends and family. Mrs. Carter was of the Pentecostal faith. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Carter, wife, Jeanette, Farmington, Mo.; five grandchildren, Stephane Young of West Plains, Jeff McDaniel and special friend, Olivia Elliott, Tara Orr, husband, Jason, of West Plains, Kyle Carter, wife, Jenna, of Perryville, Mo., and Tasha Carter of Springfield, Mo.; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Skinner, wife, Marie, of Gamaliel, Ark., and Bob Skinner, wife, Beth, Pomona, Mo.; four sisters, Delora Johnson, Birch Tree, Mo., Helen Blair, Elsinore, Calif., Wilma Tom, husband, Charles, of West Plains and Rosemary Burgess, husband, Royce, Willow Springs, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents; husband; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Rick McDaniel; one brother, Henry "Bud" Skinner; and one sister, Edith Rainey, precede her in death. Burial will be at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
