Funeral services held for Vernon C. Crews, long time resident of Steele. Rev. James F. McCrary conducted the 2:00 p.m. services at the First Baptist Church in Steele Monday, March 24, 1980.
Mr. Crews was a retired plumber.
He was born May 9, 1907, at Marmaduke, Ark., and died at his home March 22, 1980. He leaves his wife, Mable Pate Crews of the home; three daughters, Doris Wimberley of Memphis, Linda Cecil of Steele, and Mary Crews of Memphis; five sons, Adron Crews of Little Rock, Ark.; David D. Crews of Steele, Ray Crews of Kennett, Wayne Crews of Osceola, Ark., and Ronnie Crews of Benton, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Ora McCollum of Steele; 16 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery with German-Aumon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mable Pate Crews were held Saturday, July 25, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Steele, Rev. James F. McCrary officiating.
Mrs. Crews was born January 30, 1913 and died July 23, 1981 at 68. Her husband, Vernon Crews, preceded her in death March 22, 1980.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Doris Wimberley of Memphis; Mrs. Linda Cecil of Steele; and Mary Crews of Memphis; Five sons, Adron of Little Rock, Arkansas; David D. of Steele; Ray of Kennett; Wayne of Osceola, Arkansas; and Ronnie of Benton, Arkansas; One brother, Harry Pate, of Caruthersville; One sister, Florence Turnbo of Caruthersville; Sixteen grandchildren; A sister, Mrs. Jessie Turnbo, and a brother, Will Pate, also preceded her in death.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Steele with the German-Aumon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
