James Clarence Stewart, 84, of Denton, Mo., died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Mo.
Born Wednesday, June 27, 1917 in Denton, he was the son of the late Jim Berry Stewart and Pearl Oliver Stewart. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
James was united in marriage to Mary Louise Sanders on July 8, 1947 in Piggott, Ark.
He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Stewart leaves two sons: Ferrell Joe Stewart of Cooter, Mo., and Jim Stewart of Steele, Mo.; Three daughters: Alice Watson and Becky Shuburte of Blytheville, Ark. and Marilyn Winchester of Steele; His special loving friend, Sonya Allen, of Steele; Twelve grandchildren and Fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Stewart were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2002, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Dave Lewelling officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Mitchell Fisher, Sonny Murphy, Gerald Scott, james Welch, Don Tims, and Glenn Griffin.
Honorary pallbearers were Roy Cooper Jr. and Frankie Poff.

Mary Louise Stewart, 69, passed away on November 5, 1995 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark. Born March 30, 1926, she is the daughter of the late Cecil and Alma "Kate" Robertson Vaughn Sanders.
She is of Baptist religion and married James C. Stewart. (July 8, 1947 in Piggott, Ark.)
Survivors include her husband, James Stewart of Denton; two sons, Ferrell Joe Stewart of Cooter and Jimmy L. Stewart of Denton; three daughters, Marilyn Winchester of Steele and Alice Watson and Becky Shuburte, both of Blytheville, Ark.; a brother, Bill Sanders of Steele; two sisters, Dathel Failoni of Steele and Venie Bennett of Counts, Tenn.; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Services were held on Nov. 8 at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele with Rev. Doug Applegate officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
