Wallace Kittman Polk "Polkie" Flood, 73, of Steele, Mo., died Tuesday, December 29, 1998, at his home.

Born February 2, 1925, in Steele, he was the son of the late Wallace W. and Lydia Northcutt Flood. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Clell Flood, and three sisters: Lillian King, Helen Culp and Burmon Morton.

Polkie was united in marriage to Margie Lee Cothern on February 1, 1948, in Steele.

Mr. Flood worked in the petroleum business in Steele his entire adult life until his retirement in 1988. He then worked part time at Phillips 66 Service Center. Polkie was a deacon and member of the Assembly of God Church in Steele.

He leaves his wife, Margie Lee Flood, of Steele; one son, Terry Brian Flood, of Gosnell, Ark.; two daughters: Connie Lee Quinn of Springfield, Mo., and Lisa Darlene Novak of Walnut Grove, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Austin King, of Steele; one sister-in-law, Lavina Flood, of Steele; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Flood were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 1998, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele with Rev. Harold Tackitt and Rev. Charles Clark officiating.

Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Bradshaw Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were Greg Flood, Steve Wheatley, Wayne Thornton, Steve Flood, Joe Wallace Morton and Jimmy Morton.

Honorary pallbearers were Dick Murphy, Wilburn Clark, Tom Allbritton, C.G. Moss, Cooper Jones and W.C. Martin
