Elsie Clark Rhodes, 85, passed away Tuesday, Dec 30, 2014, in Tampa. Fla. She was born May 11, 1929 in Steele to the late Wilburn and Nettie Barnard Clark. She grew up in the Denton, Mo., community and attended school in Denton. She was united in marriage to Thomas D Rhodes Jr. in 1945. She was a housewife and homemaker.
Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Thomas D. Rhodes III; one sister, Jean Clark Puckett; one brother, Frank Clark, and one grandson, Tim Gaffney.
Survivors of Mrs. Rhodes include three daughters, Teresa Newton, Donna Gaffney and Patricia Moore; one son, Ronald Dean Rhodes; one sister, Brenda Lawrence; four brothers, Harold Clark, Alton Clark, Charles Clark and David Clark; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a host of many relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rhodes were held Sunday, Jan. 4 at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele with Ronald Dean Rhodes and Charles Clark officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Gaffney, Cary Moore, Chad Moore, Craig Moore. Korby Rhodes, Korey Rhodes, Dusty Rhodes and Christopher Moore.
John W. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
