Funeral service for James Albert Guthrie was held Sunday, June 28, 1981 at 2:00 p.m., at the Church of Christ in Steele. Mr. Steven W. Murrell officiated.

Mr. Guthrie was born May 6, 1915 at Waverly, Tennessee, and died June 26, 1981 at Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville at 66.

He leaves his wife, Opal Guthrie, of the home; one son, James Harold Guthrie of Steele; two daughters: Carolyn Auvenshine of Steele and Beverly Evans of Charlotte, North Carolina; two half-sisters: Vivian Holtzclaw and Edna Smith, both of Astatula, Florida; one half-brother, Aaron Randell of Astatula; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jessie Akins, Charles Clark, Paul Cooper, Bud Davis, Dan Faulkner, and Chester Barnes.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Steele, with the German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.

Opal Agnes Guthrie, 80, died April 10, 1998 at the Pemiscot Memorial Nursing Home in Hayti, Mo. Born March 30, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cora Moore Bussell.
She was married to the late James Albert Guthrie. She was a retired factory worker.
Survivors include: one son, James Guthrie of Steele, Mo.; one daughter, Beverly Evans of Charlotte, NC.; one sister, Quilla Fields of Ca.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services were held April 12, 1998 at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Steele, Mo. with Mr. Eugene Bruce officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
