Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Evelyn "Mollie" Atkinson was held Friday, June 1, 1979, at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter. Rev. Joe Smith officiated.
Mrs. Atkinson was born April 11, 1893, at Waynesboro, Tenn., and died May 29, 1979 at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti at the age of 86.
She leaves six daughters, Mrs. Louise Howern of Holland, Mrs. Mona Ayers of Steele, Mrs. Martha Jones of St. Charles, Mo., Mrs. Claudine Knighten of Licking, Mo., Mrs. Pauline Hawkins of Steele and Mrs. Patty Armstrong of Hillsboro, Mo.; five sons, Raymond Atkinson of Burly, Idaho, Paul Atkinson of San Lorenzo, Calif., Johnny Atkinson of Osceola, Ark., Glenn Atkinson of Fenton, Mich. and Russell Atkinson of Cooter. one sister, Mrs. Jennie Ninmo of Sikeston; 29 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Paulice Alexander, J.W. Neil, Arnold Jones, Homer Wilson, Carl Hamel and Herald Dennis.
Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery with German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
