Charles G. Hammond, long and favorably known in Kirksville, died at his home in Moberly, Mo., last Friday afternoon. The remains, accompanied by a number of friends and delegations from Moberly Lodge No. 344, A.F.& A.M., Moberly Legion No. 21. S.K. and Moberly Lodge No. 248 A.O.U.W., were brought to this place by special train, for interment Sunday afternoon. The funeral discourse was preached in the C.P. [Cumberland Presbyterian] Church by Rev. B. Margeson, after which the body was conveyed to the Kirksville cemetery, and with the impressive burial services of the Masonic and A.O.U.W. fraternities, was laid to rest.
