Mr. William Arthur Hester, 77, of Steele, Mo., died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at the Methodist Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.
Son of the late Samuel Berry Hester and Sarah Bynum Wood Hester, he was born July 29, 1919 at Belgreen, Alabama.
Beside his parents, four brothers: Samuel Bynum, Nelson Wood, Thomas Hoyt, and James Lewis; and one sister, Mary Margaret McDaniel, preceded him in death.
At Hernando, Miss. on June 20, 1945 Mr. Hester was united in marriage with Dorothy Moore.
A veteran of World War II, he was a retired farmer.
Mr. Hester leaves his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Moore Hester, of Steele; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Hester were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele with Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge. Democrat Argus, Caruthersville, Mo., 1997

Dorthy Allen Hester, 82, of Steele, Mo., died Monday, August 28, 2000 at the General Hospital in Camden, Tenn.
Born August 25, 1918 in Steele, she was the daughter of the late J.L. and Veva Bunch Moore.
Dorthy was united in marriage to William Arthur Hester on June 20, 1945 in Hernando, Miss. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1997.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Hester leaves five sisters: Virginia Chipman of Woodlawn, Wash., Gladys Whitley of Hot Springs, Ark., Lonnie Jane White of Spokane, Wash., Laura Whitfield of Camden, and Audrey Williams of Laytown, Mo.; and
Several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mrs. Hester were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2000 at the Mt. Zion Cemetery with Mr. Douthitt Whitfield officiating. John W. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Bill Wheatley, Dennis Williams, Charles Whitfield, Kevin Hester, Douglas Whitfield, and Sam Hester.
